The tassel construction requires a piece of cardboard cut for wrapping the yarn.

  • Prepare Tie Strand: Cut a separate piece of yarn that is 12 inches long and fold this piece in half. Lay this folded 12-inch strand horizontally across the cardboard.
  • Wrap Yarn: Using the main skein of yarn, begin wrapping the yarn vertically around the cardboard and the 12-inch strand simultaneously. Wrap the yarn around 35 times.
  • Secure Top: Tie the folded 12-inch strand of yarn securely around the yarn you just wrapped, securing the bundle at the top.
  • Cut Loop: Cut the yarn loops at the bottom of the cardboard (on the opposite side from where the 12-inch strand was tied).
  • Attach: Use the loose ends of the 12-inch strand to string the optional wooden bead and then sew the tassel to the top middle of the bookmark.
  • Weave in any remaining ends.
