Body

The main section of the scarf is worked through 15 rows, incorporating color changes to create the ‘pop’ effect.

  • With color A, ch 140.
  • Row 1: Working into the back bumps of each ch and starting in the 2nd ch from hook, sc across row. You should have 139 sts.
  • Row 2: Ch 3 (this counts as a stitch here and throughout), then work 1 dc in the 1st st of the row. Sk 2 sts, 3 dc in next st, sk 2 sts, then rep from to the last st. Finish the row with 2 dc in the last st. This row will result in 45 3-dc clusters + 2 2-dc clusters.
  • Change to color B.
  • Row 3: Ch 3, then 3 dc in the next space between clusters. Rep from across the row. Finish with 1 dc in the top of the turning ch from the row below. This row will have 46 3-dc clusters + 2 dc.
  • Change to color C.
  • Row 4: Ch 3, 1 dc in the 1st st of the row. 3 dc in the next space between clusters, then rep from across the row. Finish with 2 dc in the top of the turning ch from the row below. This will result in 45 3-dc clusters + 2 2-dc clusters.

  • Change to color A.
  • Row 6: Rep row 4.

  • Row 15: Continuing with color A, sl st loosely across the row.
  • Secure and weave in all ends.
  • Block scarf.

Fringe

The fringe is added to the ends of the scarf to complete the look.

  • Cut ninety 14”/35.5cm lengths of A (color A).
  • Use larks head knots to attach groups of three strands to the ends of each row and the corners of the scarf.
  • To create a larks head knot: fold three lengths in half. Insert your crochet hook up through a space at the end of a row. Place the folded loop around the hook and draw it back down through the space. Then, use the hook to grab the ends of the strands and draw them through the folded loop.
  • Repeat this process into the ends of each row and all four corners of the scarf.
  • Trim to desired length.

The finished dimensions of the scarf will be approximately 82”/208cm in length (without fringe) and 12”/30.5cm in width.
