Cute Crochet Baby Boots

Materials Needed & Measurements:

  • Suggested Yarn: Category #3 / light worsted / DK / 8-ply yarn.

  • Yarn Measurements: Under 1.75 oz (50g) from a skein of 360 yards (330m) / 3.5 oz (100g).
  • Hook Size:
    • Newborn: 3mm
    • 0–3 months: E (3.5mm)
    • 3–6 months & 6–9 months: G (4mm)
    • 9–12 months: Size 7 (4.5mm)
  • Pattern Measurements (Sole Length):
    • Newborn: 3” (8cm)
    • 0–3 months: 3.5” (9cm)
    • 3–6 months: 4” (10cm)
    • 6–9 months: 4.5” (11cm)
    • 9–12 months: 4.75” (12cm)
  • Needle: Yarn needle (preferably bent tip for easier sewing and weaving in ends).

  • BLdc – back loop only double crochet
  • ch(s) – chain(s)
  • dc – double crochet
  • dc2tog – double crochet two together
  • fasten off – secure end of yarn after finishing

Stitching Instructions for Making the Cute Crochet Baby Boots Pattern:

SOLE (Newborn, 0-3 Months, & 3-6 Months Sizes)

  • Round 1:
    • Ch 11.
    • 1 double crochet (dc) in the 4th chain from the hook (the skipped 3 chains do not count as a stitch).
    • 1dc in next 6 chs.
    • 8dc in last ch.
    • Working up the other side of the ch, 1dc in next 6 chs.
    • 7dc in the last ch.
    • Sl st to 1st dc to join. [28 sts]
  • Round 2:
    • Ch3 (does not count as a st).
    • 2dc in same st.
    • 1dc in next 6 sts.
    • 2dc in each of the next 8 sts.
    • 1dc in next 6 sts.
    • 2dc in each of the next 7 sts.
    • Sl st to 1st dc to join. [44 sts]

MID SECTION

  • Round 3:
    • Ch3.
    • BLdc in the same st.
    • BLdc in next 43 sts.
    • Sl st to 1st BLdc to join. [44 sts]

SHAPE THE TOE

  • Round 4:
    • Ch1 (does not count as a st).
    • 1sc in the same st.
    • 1sc in next 7 sts.
    • (dc2tog) 8 times.
    • 1sc in next 20 sts.

  • Round 5:

UPPER SECTION

  • Round 8:
    • Ch1.
    • 1sc in the same st.
    • 1sc in next 28 sts.

  • Rounds 9–17:
    • Repeat Round 8.
  • Cut yarn, fasten off, and weave in ends.
  • Fold the bootie over at the top to create a cute cuff.

Note for Larger Sizes (6-9 Months & 9-12 Months):

  • Follow the same steps for the Mid Section, Toe Shape, and Upper Section, adjusting the foundation chain and stitch counts for the Sole as described in the pattern:
    • Foundation chain: Ch 13.
    • Round 1 (Sole): Follow the instructions for working 1dc, 8dc in last ch, and working back along the chain as described in the larger sizes.
    • Increase the stitch counts for Rounds 1 and 2 as noted in the pattern.
