Stitching Instructions for Making the Floral Afghan Border Pattern:
Base Round (Attach Border to Afghan)

- With Color A, join yarn at any corner of your afghan with a sl st.
- Sc evenly around the entire edge of the afghan, placing 3 sc in each corner to keep the work flat.
- Sl st to the first sc to join. Fasten off.
Leafy Vine Row (Color A)

- Join Color A in any corner stitch.
- Ch 7, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next, hdc in next, dc in next, tr in next, dc in last, sl st to next sc on base round.
- Repeat this sequence along one side of the afghan. Fasten off when you reach the end of the side.
Tip: Skip 2–3 stitches on the base row between each leaf for spacing.
Flower Motifs (Make Separately)
Make 20 or as needed depending on afghan size
Flower Center (Color B):

- Create a magic ring, ch 1, 6 sc in ring.
- Sl st to first sc to join. Fasten off.
Petals (Color C):

- Join Color C to any sc of the center.
- (Ch 2, 2 dc in same st, ch 2, sl st in next st) – repeat this sequence 6 times to make 6 petals.
- Fasten off and weave in ends.
Assembly of Flowers
- Sew or sl st each flower between every second vine motif.
- Use Color A or a neutral yarn to attach each flower securely to the afghan border.
Finishing

- Weave in all loose yarn tails with a tapestry needle.
- Lightly block the border to flatten flowers and leaves and enhance stitch definition:
- Pin out the border evenly and gently steam with an iron or steamer (do not touch yarn directly with iron).
Notes
- Feel free to adjust the number of flowers or leaf spacing based on the size of your project.
- This border adds a lovely floral flair to any afghan and works great with both solid and striped backgrounds.
- For a more dramatic texture, you can substitute with worsted weight yarn and a 5mm hook, but remember to adjust stitch counts and spacing accordingly.
