  • Repeat this sequence along one side of the afghan. Fasten off when you reach the end of the side.

  • (Ch 2, 2 dc in same st, ch 2, sl st in next st) – repeat this sequence 6 times to make 6 petals.
  • Fasten off and weave in ends.

Assembly of Flowers

  • Sew or sl st each flower between every second vine motif.
  • Use Color A or a neutral yarn to attach each flower securely to the afghan border.

Finishing

Finishing
  • Weave in all loose yarn tails with a tapestry needle.
  • Lightly block the border to flatten flowers and leaves and enhance stitch definition:
    • Pin out the border evenly and gently steam with an iron or steamer (do not touch yarn directly with iron).

Notes

  • Feel free to adjust the number of flowers or leaf spacing based on the size of your project.
  • This border adds a lovely floral flair to any afghan and works great with both solid and striped backgrounds.
  • For a more dramatic texture, you can substitute with worsted weight yarn and a 5mm hook, but remember to adjust stitch counts and spacing accordingly.
