Instructions for Making the In A Whirl Scarf Pattern:

The Foundation Chain
The first step is to establish the foundation chain, which determines the width of your scarf:
- Make a foundation chain.
- Use a chain of 76 stitches to achieve a scarf that is 24 clusters wide. You have the flexibility to make your scarf wider or narrower by adjusting the initial chain count.
- If you find you have created too many chains after working your way back along the chain, you can undo any excess chain from the cast-on slip stitch.
The Set Up Row (Row 1 of Pattern)
This row establishes the initial 2-treble clusters that form the base of the scarf:
- Work 2 tr into the 4th chain from hook.
- Skip 2 chain.
- Repeat the following sequence: 2tr into next chain, skip 2 chain.
- Continue this repeat until you reach the last 3 chain.
- Then, skip 2 chain.
- Finally, work 1 tr into the last chain.
- Turn your work to prepare for the next row.
Row 2 (First Repeating Row)
This row introduces the 3-treble clusters and is one half of the two-row repeat:
- Chain 3. This chain often acts as a turning chain and can count as a treble stitch in UK terms.
- Work 3tr in between the 2tr from the previous row. (This means inserting your hook into the gap between the two treble stitches of the cluster from the set-up row).
- Repeat the following sequence: Skip the gap between each ‘V’ and make 3tr between the 2tr of the previous row. The ‘V’ refers to the cluster of two treble stitches from the row below.
- Continue this repeat until the last 3tr have been worked into the last ‘V’.
- Then, work 1tr into the 3rd stitch of the turning chain from the beginning of the previous row.
- Turn your work.
Row 3 (Second Repeating Row)
This row brings back the 2-treble clusters, completing the two-row repeat:
- Chain 3.
- Work 2tr into the top of the 2nd tr of the 3 treble cluster from the previous row.
- Repeat the following sequence: skip the gap between the 3 tr clusters, 2tr into the top of the 2nd tr of the 3 treble cluster.
- Continue this repeat until the end of the row.
- Then, work 1 tr into the top of the turning chain of the previous row.
Continuing and Finishing
To complete your scarf, you will repeat the two established pattern rows:
- Continue with Rows 2 & 3. You will alternate between these two rows until the scarf reaches your desired length or you have used up all your yarn.
- Once the scarf is complete, weave in the ends to secure your work.
