Stitching Instructions for Making the Mosaic Bucket Bag Pattern:

Part 1: Bottom Base

Bottom Base
  • Foundation: CH 15. Work rounds of SC to build an oval base, increasing at the ends.
  • Classic: Rounds 1-12 (joined and turned), increase to 96 sts.
  • Mini: Rounds 1-8, increase to 72 sts.
  • Switch to spiral SC rounds (no joining).
  • Use stitch markers to mark the first stitch of each round.
  • Classic: Rounds 13-22 – SC around (96 sts)
  • Mini: Rounds 9-15 – SC around (72 sts)

Part 2: Mosaic Section

Mosaic Section

Switch to Color B. Use a jogless color change method (tutorials available). Alternate rounds between Color B and Color C to create the mosaic design. Each round ends with pulling up a loop to prevent unraveling before switching colors.

  • Color B rounds often begin with a SL ST.
  • Color C rounds (labeled with a “B,” e.g., Round 23B) start with SC followed by spike stitches.
  • Classic: Mosaic pattern spans Rounds 23-48B
  • Mini: Mosaic pattern spans Rounds 16-31B

Fasten off Colors B and C at the end of the mosaic section.

Part 3: Top Section

Top Section

Turn the bag right side out. Reattach Color A at a stitch near the side crease.

  • Classic: Join into 8th stitch from the crease. Work Rounds 49-56 (96 sts).
  • Mini: Join into 6th stitch from crease. Work Rounds 32-37 (72 sts).

Top rounds include regular SC and eyelet chain spaces. You will also crochet around the D-rings. Fasten off and weave in all ends.
