Instructions for Making the Vanilla Latte Super Scarf Pattern:
Scarf Directions
The scarf is worked in rows, starting with a foundation chain:
- Foundation Chain: Chain 204.
- Row 1 (RS): Treble crochet (tr) into the 5th chain from your hook (note that skipping 4 chains counts as your first treble crochet). Continue to tr in each chain across the row, then turn your work. You should have a total of 201 tr.
- Row 2 (WS): Chain 1 (this chain 1 counts as the beginning chain throughout the pattern). Work a Single Crochet 2 Together (SC2tog) in the first and 2nd treble crochet stitches. Then, [SC2tog in the treble crochet stitch just worked and the next treble crochet stitch] across the row. Finish by working a SC2tog in the last treble crochet stitch and the top of the turning chain (Tch), then turn. At the end of this row, you will have 200 SC2tog stitches and 1 beginning chain.
- Row 3: Chain 4 (this chain 4 counts as your first treble crochet throughout the pattern). Work a tr across each stitch, and then work a tr into the beginning chain of the previous row. Turn your work. You should again have a total of 201 tr.
- Rows 4-17: Repeat Rows 2 and 3. This means you will alternate between the paired single crochet ridges and the treble crochet rows for a total of 14 rows, following the established pattern.
- Row 18: Repeat Row 2, but do not turn your work after completing this row. This prepares your work for the border.
Border Round
The border is worked around the entire scarf:
- From where you finished Row 18, chain 2, then rotate your work.
- *Single crochet (SC) into the side of the single crochet row you just completed.
- Work 3 SC into the side of each treble crochet row.
- Work SC into the side of each single crochet row across the length of the scarf.
- Chain 2, then rotate your work.
- Work a SC2tog in the first and 2nd stitches of the bottom edge of the scarf.
- Then, [SC2tog in the stitch just worked and the next stitch] across the bottom edge.
- Chain 2, then rotate your work.
- Repeat from to *.
- Finally, slip stitch (sl st) into the beginning chain of Row 18 to join the border.
- Fasten off your yarn.
Finishing
- Weave in all loose ends using your yarn needle.
- Block your scarf to the stated dimensions of 12″ x 80″. When blocking, be careful not to flatten the ridges created by the paired single crochet stitches, as these are an intentional design feature.
