Wynn Hat Pattern

Pattern Description:

The Wynn Hat is a crochet pattern notable for its texture and unique stitching, which results in eye-catching wavy ridges. 

These ridges are created using back loop stitches throughout the pattern, which also provide excellent elasticity to accommodate various head sizes.

Stitches & Abbreviations Used:

  • CH: chain
  • RS: right side
  • HDC: half double crochet
  • SLST: slip stitch
  • YO: yarn over
  • YO-SLST (Yarn over slip stitch): Yarn over, insert hook in stitch, yarn over, pull loop through stitch and next two loops on hook.
  • The pattern also notes that the beginning chain does not count as a stitch and advises to keep tension loose when working slip stitches. Additionally, all stitches for the remainder of the pattern after Row 1 are worked in BACK LOOPS ONLY.

Finishing the Hat

  • Seaming
    • Place the right sides of the work together.
    • SLST through both loops of the last row and corresponding loops on the foundation chain to join the edges.
  • Closing the Top
    • Fasten off yarn.
    • Use a tapestry needle with extra yarn to weave through stitches at the top opening.
    • Gently pull to close the top of the hat.
  • Weaving in Ends
    • Securely weave in all yarn tails for a neat, finished look.
