Stitching Instructions for Making the Bobble Notions Bag Pattern:

Base (Rows 1-4):

  • Using 5.00mm hook and Color A, Ch 44.
  • Work Rows 1-4 in sc and puff stitch following the color chart or directions provided in the full pattern.
  • You’ll switch between Color A and B to create the bobble design.
  • After Row 4, fasten off.

Middle Section (Rows 5-14):

  • With the right side facing, join Color A in the 7th stitch from the right. Carry Color B under your stitches.
  • Work alternating rows of sc (odd-numbered rows) and bobble rows (even-numbered rows).
  • Puff stitches (ps) are placed at specific intervals.
  • After Row 14, fasten off.

Shaping the Fabric (Row 15):

  • With Color A, ch 13, sc across the previous row, ch 13 again.
  • This row sets up the width of the bag.
  • Continue working over Color B.

Main Body (Rows 16-24):

  • Continue the pattern by adding sc and puff stitch rows across the now-expanded piece.
  • Fasten off after Row 24.

Repeat Section (Rows 25-39):

  • Repeat Rows 5-14 (as Rows 25-34).
  • Then repeat Rows 15-19 (as Rows 35-39).
  • After Row 39, fasten off and weave in ends.

Zipper Preparation

Lay the 10” zipper flat. Mark 22 evenly spaced points on each side. Using Color A and a tapestry needle, stitch up and down through the zipper fabric to form 22 base stitches per side.

Attaching the Zipper (Crochet Method)

With the right side facing and 4.00mm hook, sc through the zipper and bag edges:

  • One side of the bag has 43 sts.
  • Work 2 sc into each of the 22 marked zipper stitches (total 44 sc).
  • Distribute 43 sc from the fabric across them, placing 3 sc in one zipper stitch if needed.

Repeat on the opposite side, folding the fabric to align with the other zipper side.

Finishing the Bag (Sewing Method)

  • Turn the bag inside out (wrong side facing).
  • Use a tapestry needle and Color A to whip stitch the side seams, sewing through the edges and the zipper tape if desired.
  • Unzip and repeat for the other side.
  • Weave in all remaining ends and turn right side out.
