Cache Coeur Free Dress Pattern

Materials & Measurements:

• Hook: 4 mm / US G-6 crochet hook
• Yarn: Lion Brand Coboo (100g, 50% cotton, 50% bamboo, 232 yards / 212 m)
  • You’ll need:
    • 8 (8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 14) balls of yarn in Mauve color.
• Tools: Tapestry needle to weave in ends.

• XS: Waist 71 cm / 28″
• S: Waist 75.5 cm / 29.75″

Stitch Abbreviations:

• Ch: Chain
• Dc: Double Crochet
• Sl St: Slip Stitch
• Inc: Increase (crochet 2 stitches in the same stitch)
• Bead St: Decorative puff-like Bead Stitch
• St: Stitch

Instructions for Creating the Cache Coeur Dress Pattern:

Top Panel 1:

• Chain: Create a chain of 41 (43, 48, 52, 56, 60, 64, 68, 70) stitches, plus 2 additional chains.
• Row 1: Dc in the 3rd chain from the hook, dc in each stitch across, turn. (You will have 41 (43, 48, 52, 56, 60, 64, 68, 70) stitches)
• Row 2: Ch 2, dc across, turn.
• Row 3: Ch 4, skip 2 stitches, then repeat 3 times: [Bead St (counts as 2 stitches), ch 1, skip 2], then dc to the end of the row, turn.
• Repeat Row 2 and Row 3 until the panel reaches 100 cm / 39.25″, ending with Row 2.

Top Panel 2:

• Chain: Chain 41 (43, 48, 52, 56, 60, 64, 68, 70) stitches, plus 2 additional chains.
• Row 1: Dc in the 3rd chain from the hook, dc in each stitch across, turn.
• Row 2: Ch 2, dc across, turn.
• Row 3: Ch 2, dc 29 (31, 36, 40, 44, 48, 52, 56, 58), skip 2 stitches, ch 2, then repeat 3 times: [Bead St (counts as 2 stitches), ch 1, skip 2], then dc in the last stitch, turn.
• Repeat Row 2 and Row 3 until the panel reaches 100 cm / 39.25″, ending with Row 2.

Assembling the Top:

• Fold both panels in half lengthwise.
• Position the panels next to each other with the bead stitches facing inward, overlapping by 10 cm / 4”.
• Sew the panels together at the 10 cm / 4” overlap on both ends.
• Stitch the sides together, leaving a 20 cm / 8” gap for the armholes.
• Sew the front and back panels together for 32 cm / 12.5”, starting at the belt area, ensuring the seam remains discreet by sewing only the inside edge.

Belt Section:

• Join yarn to the side and crochet in rounds.
• Round 1: Ch 2, dc around, join with a sl st in the 2nd chain. (137 (143, 164, 179, 194, 209, 224, 239, 254) stitches)
• Round 2: Ch 2, [ch 2, skip 2, dc] repeat around, making the final dc in the 2nd chain.

• Rounds 16–27: Repeat Round 2.
• Round 28: Ch 2, [dc 12, inc] repeat around, dc 9 (5, 6, 11, 6, 11, 6, 11, 6), inc, join with a sl st in the 2nd chain. (193 (203, 232, 251, 274, 293, 316, 335, 358 stitches)

Bottom Edge:

• Round 1: Ch 4, skip 2, then bead st (counts as 2 stitches), ch 1, skip 2, repeat around, finishing with a sl st in the 2nd chain.
• Round 2: Repeat Round 6.
• Rounds 3-6: Repeat rounds 7 and 8 twice.

The Belt (Finishing Touch):

• Cut 6 strands of yarn, each 2 meters long.
• Braid three pairs of 2 strands.
• Attach the braid to the dress by weaving it over and under the double crochet stitches.
• For added flair, attach large tassels (around 10 cm / 4”) to each end of the belt.
