Finishing the Diamond Shape:

Finishing the Diamond Shape
  • Forming the Diamond: Work the herringbone stitch (Hsc) along the edges of the shape, creating a textured and symmetrical look to form the diamond pattern.
  • Shaping the Doily: To form the diamond shape, adjust the increasing stitches, making sure to follow the stitch count and working in the round until you achieve the desired size.
  • Final Row: Once you reach the desired width and height (14” wide x 13” tall), complete your doily with a row of sc for a finished border. You can optionally work this in the contrasting yarn for a unique edge.
  • Optional Fabric Lining: Once your doily is complete, you may want to line the back with fabric for added stability and texture. Apply fabric glue around the edges and press onto the fabric backing.
  • Stuffing (Optional): For a raised, 3D effect, gently stuff your doily with fiberfill before adding the lining.

Tips:

  • Make sure to check your gauge by crocheting a 4” triangle using the first 8 rows of the pattern. Adjust hook size if needed.
  • Keep your tension even to maintain a uniform look for your doily.
