Stitching Instructions for Making Little Bunny Applique Pattern:
Body
- Start with MC:
- Begin with a magic circle.
- Round 1: Work 6 sc into the circle. Pull tight to close and join with a sl st. (6 stitches)
- Round 2: Work 2 sc in each stitch around (inc in each stitch). (12 stitches)
- Round 3: 1 sc in the next stitch, 2 sc in the following stitch (inc) repeat around. (18 stitches)
- Round 4 (optional for larger sizes): 2 sc, inc repeat around. (24 stitches)
- Note: For smaller bunnies, stop after Round 3. For larger ones, add extra rounds by increasing 6 stitches evenly per round.
Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Head
- Using MC:
- Begin with a magic circle.
- Round 1: Work 6 sc into the circle. Pull tight to close and join with a sl st. (6 stitches)
- Round 2: Work 2 sc in each stitch around. (12 stitches)
- Round 3: 1 sc, inc repeat around. (18 stitches)
- Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing the head to the body.
Ears (Make 2)
- Using MC:
- Ch 5.
- Work 1 sc in the second chain from the hook, 1 hdc in the next chain, 1 dc in the following chain, and 1 tr in the last chain.
- Fasten off, leaving a long tail for attaching the ears to the head.
- Optional Inner Ear: Repeat the steps using CC and attach the CC ear on top of the MC ear for a layered effect.
Tail
- Using CC:
- Begin with a magic circle.
- Work 6 sc into the circle. Pull tight to close, but do not join.
- Fasten off, leaving a long tail for attaching the tail to the body.
Feet (Optional)
- Using MC:
- Ch 4.
- Work 1 sc in the second chain from the hook, 1 hdc in the next chain, and 1 dc in the last chain.
- Fasten off, leaving a tail for attaching to the body. Repeat for the second foot.
Assembly
- Attach the Head: Sew the head to the body using the long tail left from the head. Position it slightly above the center of the body.
- Attach the Ears: Sew the ears to the top of the head, angling them slightly outward. Adjust to create a playful or calm look.
- Attach the Tail: Sew the tail to the lower back of the body.
- Optional Feet: Attach the feet to the lower front of the body.
Embroidered Details
- Eyes: Use black embroidery thread to make small French knots or straight stitches for the eyes. Position them evenly on the head.
- Nose: Use pink embroidery thread to create a tiny “V” shape for the nose. Stitch directly onto the head, slightly below the eyes.
- Inner Ear (optional): Add a small line of pink embroidery thread along the center of each ear for additional detail.
Size Adjustments
- Use a smaller hook (e.g., 2mm) and finer yarn for a smaller applique.
- Use a larger hook (e.g., 3.5mm) and thicker yarn for a larger applique.
- Add or reduce the number of rounds in the body and head to customize the size further.
