- Yarn Requirements:
- Small item (e.g., baby blanket): 80-120 yards
- Medium item (e.g., shawl, cardigan edge): 150-200 yards
- Large item (e.g., afghan): 200-300 yards (Based on standard DK yarn usage – adjust as needed)

Stitches Used (US Terms):
- ch = chain
- sl st = slip stitch
- sc = single crochet
- dc = double crochet
- picot = chain 3, slip stitch into the first chain
- v-stitch = (dc, ch 1, dc) in the same stitch or space
Measurements:
- Edging width: Approx. 1.5″ (4 cm)
- Length: Customizable to fit any edge – straight or gently curved
Stitching Instructions for Making the V-Stitch and Picot Edging Pattern:
Row 1: Foundation Edge

Attach yarn with sl st anywhere along the edge.
- Work sc evenly along the entire edge. For every corner, place 3 sc in the same st to turn smoothly.
- Join with sl st to 1st sc. Do not turn.
Tip: Spacing is important here – aim for 2–3 sc per inch if working into the side of rows.
Row 2: V-Stitch Row

- Ch 3 (counts as dc), dc in same st (first v-st made).
- Sk 2 sts, (dc, ch 1, dc) in next st, rep from * to end.
- If working in rnds, join with sl st to top of beg ch-3.
Optional: Adjust the skip count to keep the edging from ruffling – sk 1 or 3 occasionally as needed.
Row 3: Picot Edging

- Sl st into next ch-1 sp (center of v-st).
- (Sc, picot, sc) in ch-1 sp of v-st, sk next v-st, rep from * around.
- In corners: try (sc, picot, sc, picot, sc) for a fuller corner look.
- Join with sl st to 1st sc. Fasten off.
Finishing:

- Weave in all ends with a yarn needle.
- Block the edging gently to shape:
- Pin it out evenly.
- Use a steam iron (hovering above, not touching), or mist with water and let dry flat.
- This helps open up the v-sts and sharpen the picots.
Tips & Variations:
- Use this edging on blankets, scarves, garments, or even tote bags.
- You can replace the dc in v-st with tr for a lacier look.
- Add beads in the picots for an elegant touch.
- Works great in solid, tonal, or even gradient yarns – shows off the texture well!
