Stitching Instructions for Making the Barefoot Yoga Bag Pattern:
Base of the Bag
- Rnd 1 (Starting the Base): Start with a magic ring (or ch 4 and join to form a ring). Ch 3 (counts as the first dc). Work 11 dc into the magic ring. Join with a sl st to the top of the first ch-3. You should now have 12 dc in total.
- Rnd 2 (Increasing for a Larger Base): Ch 3 (counts as the first dc). Work 2 dc in each st around. Join with a sl st to the top of the first ch-3. You should now have 24 dc in total.
- Rnd 3 (Increasing the Diameter): Ch 3 (counts as the first dc). Work 2 dc in the next st, 1 dc in the next st. Rep from * around. Join with a sl st to the top of the first ch-3. You should now have 36 dc in total.
- Rnd 4 (Continue Increasing): Ch 3 (counts as the first dc). Work 2 dc in the next st, 1 dc in the next 2 sts. Rep from * around. Join with a sl st to the top of the first ch-3. You should now have 48 dc in total.
Body of the Bag
- Rnd 5 (Start the Sides of the Bag): Ch 3 (counts as the first dc). Work 1 dc in each st around. Join with a sl st to the top of the first ch-3. You should still have 48 dc in total after this round.
- Rnd 6-7 (Continue Building the Sides): Ch 3 (counts as the first dc). Work 1 dc in each st around. Join with a sl st to the top of the first ch-3. Repeat rounds 6 and 7 for the desired height of the body of the bag. You can add more rounds for a taller bag if necessary.
- Top of the Bag (Rim)
- Rnd 8 (Add a Decorative Edge): Ch 1. Sc in the first st. Skip the next st, sc in the next st. Rep from * around. Join with a sl st to the first sc. This creates a simple, open edge.
- Rnd 9 (Adding the Lace Effect): Ch 3 (counts as the first dc). Skip the next st, dc in the next st. Rep from * around. Join with a sl st to the top of the first ch-3. This round creates a lacey pattern by leaving spaces between each double crochet.
- Rnd 10 (Finishing the Top Edge): Ch 1. Sc in each st around. Join with a sl st to the first sc. This helps to finalize the top edge and close off the lace pattern.
- Strap (Optional)
- Strap (Optional, Can Be Customized): Ch 110 (or the desired length for your strap). Work sc in each ch across. Join the end of the strap to the top of the bag with a sl st. Repeat for the other side to create the second strap.
- You can also add a decorative or textured stitch to the strap, such as a hdc (half double crochet) or dc stitch for extra stability.
Finishing
- Finishing Touches: Once all rounds are complete, fasten off your yarn and weave in all loose ends with a yarn needle. If desired, thread beads onto the yarn and add them to the bag for decoration. Beads should be threaded through the yarn and attached securely.
Optional Final Adjustment:
- When you prefer a larger or smaller bag, adjust the number of rounds in the Body of the Bag and/or Base of the Bag as needed. You can increase or decrease the number of stitches to fit the size of your yoga mat.
Now you’re ready to enjoy your completed Barefoot Yoga Bag!
