Pattern Description:
This is a Simple C2C Corner Bookmark pattern for beginners. It utilizes the corner-to-corner (C2C) crochet technique, starting at the corner and working diagonally.
The construction requires making two triangular panels, each consisting of C2C squares (3 double crochets and a ch-3), which are then seamed together. This pattern is the first in the 2023 Bookmark Bonanza CAL.

Instructions for Making the C2C Corner Bookmark Pattern:
Make 2 Panels
The instructions below detail the increase rows necessary to create the triangular panels. Remember that the number of squares (sqs) will always match the row number.
- Row 1 (WS): Begin by making a starting chain of 6 (Ch 6). Work a dc in the 4th ch from the hook. Then, work a dc in the next 2 chains. This completes the first row.
- (Count: 1 sq)
- Row 2 (RS): Begin the new row by chaining 6 (Ch 6). Work a dc in the 4th ch from the hook, and then dc in the next 2 chains. Now, flip your work. Next, work a sl st in the ch-3 sp (chain-3 space) of the previous row’s square. Then, ch 3. Finish the row by working 3 dc in the same ch-3 sp.
- (Count: 2 sqs)
- Row 3: Start the row by chaining 6 (Ch 6). Work a dc in the 4th ch from the hook, and then dc in the next 2 chains. Now, flip your work. Repeat the following sequence across the remainder of the row: sl st in the next ch-3 sp, ch 3, 3 dc in the same ch-3 sp.
- (Count: 3 sqs)
- Rows 4-6: Repeat the instructions given for Row 3. The number of squares will correspond exactly to the row number.
- (Count: Row 4 = 4 sqs; Row 5 = 5 sqs; Row 6 = 6 sqs)
- Finishing Panels:
- Once the first panel is completed (Row 6), fasten off the yarn. After the second panel is completed (Row 6), do not fasten off. Continue directly to the assembly instructions.
Assembly
The assembly process involves seaming the two triangular panels together to form the corner bookmark.
- Seam the two panels together by working a sc (single crochet) evenly along the straight edges of the bookmark.
- When working the sc along the edges, you should work 2-3 sc in each square (sq) along the straight side.
- Ensure that you work 3 sc in each corner.
- Crucially, do not seam the diagonal sides together; only join the straight edges.
- Fasten off once the seaming is complete.
- Finally, weave in all ends.
The construction of this corner bookmark, where two identical triangular panels are joined along their straight edges but left open along the diagonal edge, is like making a small pocket. The pocket slips neatly over the corner of a book page, holding its place.
