
Materials Needed & Measurements:
- 1 ball of WeCrochet Palette Fingering Yarn (cream or similar wool)
- Size F crochet hook
- Yarn/tapestry needle
Measurements:
- Small cozy: Fits a 3″ diameter jar
- Large cozy: Fits a 4″ diameter jar
- Both cozies are approximately 4.75″ tall
Stitches Used:
- ch – Chain
- sk – Skip
- ss – Slip Stitch
- dc – Double Crochet
- dec – Decrease (Double Crochet 2 Together)
Stitching Instructions for Making the Candle Jar Cozy Pattern:
Row 1:

- Ch 30 (for small cozy) or Ch 36 (for large cozy), join with a slip stitch (ss) to form a circle.
- (Make sure to join the chain with a ss in the first chain, ensuring no twist in the chain.)
Row 2:

- Ch 7 (counts as first double crochet (dc) + chain (ch) 4).
- Sk 2 stitches from the chain, then:
- Dc in the next stitch, ch 4, sk 2 stitches.
- Repeat from * across the row.
- Join to the 3rd ch of starting ch 7 with a slip stitch (ss) to close the round.
- (Small cozy should have 50 stitches, large cozy should have 60 stitches).
Row 3:

- Ch 3 (counts as first dc).
- Work 7 more dc in the next ch 4 space.
- Ch 2, sk the next ch 4 space.
- In the next ch 4 space, work dc 8, ch 2, sk the next ch 4 space.
- Repeat from * across the row.
- Join to the top of the starting ch 3 with a slip stitch (ss) to close the round.
- (Small cozy should have 50 stitches, large cozy should have 60 stitches).
Row 4:

- Ch 4 (counts as first dc + ch 1).
- Dc in the next stitch, ch 1.
- Dec 2 (double crochet 2 together) in the next two stitches.
- Ch 1, dc, ch 1, dc, sk the next ch 2 space.
- In the next ch 2 space, dc, ch 1, dc, ch 1, dec 2 (double crochet 2 together), ch 1, dc, ch 1, dc, sk the next ch 2 space.
- Repeat from * across the row.
- Join to the top of the starting ch 4 with a slip stitch (ss) to close the round.
- (Small cozy should have 50 stitches, large cozy should have 60 stitches).
Row 5:

- Ch 3 (counts as first dc).
- **Dc in the next dc, ch 3.
- Dec (double crochet 2 together) in the previous 2 decreases.
- Ch 3, sk the next dc, dc in the next dc.
- Dc 2, ch 3, sk 1, dec (double crochet 2 together) in the previous 2 decreases, ch 3, sk the next dc, dc in the next dc.
- Repeat from * across the row.
- Join to the top of the starting ch 3 with a slip stitch (ss) to close the round.
- (Small cozy should have 50 stitches, large cozy should have 60 stitches).
Row 6:

- Ch 7 (counts as first dc + ch 4).
- Dc in the dc decrease from the previous row, ch 4.
- In the center of the 3 dc’s from the previous row, dc, ch 4, dc in the dc decrease from the previous row, ch 4.
- Repeat from * across the row.
- Join to the 3rd ch of the starting ch 7 with a slip stitch (ss) to close the round.
- (Small cozy should have 50 stitches, large cozy should have 60 stitches).
Rows 7 and beyond:

- Repeat Rows 3–6 until the cozy reaches your desired height, ending with Row 4.
- (Both cozies should measure approximately 4.75″ tall).
Finishing:

- Fasten off the yarn and weave in all loose ends using a yarn needle. Slide the cozy onto your jar to ensure a snug fit.
