Christmas Tree Coaster Crochet Pattern

Suggested Yarn:

  • #3 Light (DK, light worsted, 8-ply) cotton blend or 100% cotton yarn.
    • Color A (green): Approx. 15.3 yards (14 meters) per coaster.
    • Color B (yellow): Approx. 1 yard (90 cm) for each star.
  • Hook Size: 3.5 mm (E-4) or size needed to obtain gauge.

Stitching Instructions for Making the Christmas Tree Coaster Crochet Pattern:

Tree Coaster

Foundation: Using Color A, create a magic ring (MR) or chain 5 and slip stitch into the first chain to form a ring.

Row 1 (Tree Base):

  • Chain 4 (counts as 1 treble), make 3 treble stitches into the ring.
  • Make 2 slip stitches around the post of the last treble, then slip stitch into the ring.
  • (Start of tree) Chain 3 (counts as a double crochet), into the ring make 2 double crochets, chain 3, and 3 double crochets. Tighten the magic ring. Turn.

Row 2:

  • Chain 3 (counts as 1 double crochet), make 1 double crochet in the same space as the chain-3, 1 double crochet in the next 2 stitches.
  • In the chain-3 space, make (2 double crochets, chain 3, 2 double crochets).
  • Make 1 double crochet in the next 2 stitches, then 2 double crochets into the top of the chain-3. Turn.

Row 3:

  • Chain 3 (counts as 1 double crochet), make 1 double crochet in the same space as the chain-3, 1 double crochet in the next 5 stitches.
  • In the chain-3 space, make (2 double crochets, chain 3, 2 double crochets).

Row 4:

Row 7:

  • Slip stitch into the next 5 stitches. Chain 3 (counts as 1 double crochet), make 1 double crochet in the next 7 stitches.
  • In the chain-3 space, make (2 double crochets, chain 3, 2 double crochets).
  • Make 1 double crochet in the next 8 stitches. Turn.

Row 8:

  • Slip stitch into the next 7 stitches. Chain 3 (counts as 1 double crochet), make 1 double crochet in the next 3 stitches.
  • In the chain-3 space, make (2 double crochets, chain 3, 2 double crochets).
  • Make 1 double crochet in the next 4 stitches. Chain 1, cut yarn, and fasten off.

Star:

Foundation: Using Color B, create a magic ring (MR) or chain 3 and slip stitch into the first chain to form a ring.

Round 1:

  • Into the ring, (single crochet, picot). Repeat from * 4 more times.
  • Pull the yarn tail to close the magic ring, then slip stitch into the first single crochet to join. Cut yarn and fasten off.

Finishing

  • Use a yarn needle to weave in the tail ends of the tree and star.
  • Sew the star to the top of the tree.
