Stitching Instructions for Making Chunky Crochet Slipper Pattern:

Start the Base:

  • Chain (ch) 12 (for size 5; adjust the starting chain for other sizes).
  • Row 1: Work 1 single crochet (sc) in each chain stitch (st) across the foundation chain (12 sc).
  • Row 2: Turn your work. Ch 1, then work 1 sc in each st across the row (12 sc).
  • Rows 3-10 (or as needed for length): Turn. Repeat Row 2 until the base reaches the required foot length for your size. For example, for size 9, you’ll need to work up to 9.5″.

Shape the Heel:

  • Row 11: Work 2 sc in the first st (increase), then work 1 sc in each of the next 10 sts, and finally, 2 sc in the last st (this increases the stitch count to 14).
  • Row 12: Turn. Ch 1, work 1 sc in each st across the 14 sts (14 sc).
  • Rows 13-15: Turn. Continue working 1 sc in each st across for the next few rows, increasing by 2 sc at the beginning and end of each row to widen the heel area. Adjust the number of increases based on foot width (usually 4-5 rows).

Form the Toe:

  • Row 16: To start decreasing the toe, work 1 sc in the first 10 sts, then perform a sc2tog (single crochet two stitches together) in the last two sts.
  • Row 17: Turn. Ch 1, work 1 sc in each of the first 9 sts, and sc2tog the last two sts.
  • Row 18: Turn. Ch 1, work 1 sc in each of the first 8 sts, and sc2tog the last two sts.
  • Continue decreasing in this manner, working 1 sc in each st across, then performing a sc2tog at the end of each row, until only a small opening remains for the toe.

Joining the Slipper:

  • Once the toe is closed, fold the slipper in half, bringing the heel and toe sides together.
  • Seam the back: Use a slip stitch (sl st) to join the two sides together, stitching from the bottom of the heel to the top of the toe. Make sure the seam is snug.
  • To create the side of the slipper, use a tapestry needle to weave in the loose yarn ends, securing them neatly.

Fur Trim:

  • Switch to Red Heart Hygge Fur yarn (Cotton Tail color) for the trim.
  • Attach the Red Heart Hygge Fur yarn at any point around the top opening using a K hook (6.5mm).
  • Round 1: Work 1 sc in each st around the top of the slipper, making sure to crochet over the fur strands to keep them evenly distributed.
  • Round 2: Continue working 1 sc in each st all around. You may want to work a few more rounds for a thicker, fluffier trim, depending on how much fur you want.
  • For a more pronounced trim, repeat Round 2 until the desired fur length is achieved.

Finishing:

  • Use the locking stitch marker/safety pin to track your rounds as you go to maintain consistency in the trim.
  • Once the fur trim is completed, finish off by cutting the yarn, leaving a small tail, and using the tapestry needle to weave in all loose ends to prevent any unraveling.

Now, your chunky crochet slippers are ready to wear!
