The beanie has a 2–3 inch fold-over brim, which you can shorten, lengthen, or remove by adjusting the starting chain. The hat stretches, so make it slightly smaller than the head circumference for a snug fit.

Instructions for Making the Chunky Ribbed Crochet Beanie Pattern:
The beanie is worked as a simple rectangle in vertical rows, then folded and seamed into a tube. The top is cinched closed, and the brim is folded up. Beginning chains do not count as stitches.
At the end of each row, chain 1, turn, and work the first stitch into the last stitch of the previous row. Numbers in parentheses show stitch counts or sizes.
Baby Sizes
CH 19 (20, 21)
- Row 1: HDC in 2nd CH from hook, then HDC in each ST across. (18, 19, 20)
- Rows 2–15 (18, 20): CH 1, turn. HDC BLO in each ST across. (18, 19, 20)
Child Sizes
CH 22 (23)
- Row 1: HDC in 2nd CH from hook, then HDC in each ST across. (21, 22)
- Rows 2–22 (23): CH 1, turn. HDC BLO in each ST across. (21, 22)
Adult Sizes
CH 24 (25, 26)
- Row 1: HDC in 2nd CH from hook, then HDC in each ST across. (23, 24, 25)

Closing & Finishing:
- Fold the rectangle in half so the short sides meet.
- Slip stitch through the front loops of the last row and the beginning chain to form a tube.
- CH 1, fasten off leaving a ~20-inch tail.
- Use the yarn needle to weave the tail in and out around the top opening.
- Pull tight to cinch the top closed. Secure with knots.
- Weave in all ends, flip the hat inside out, and fold up the brim.
