Stitching Instructions for Making the Coffee Bean Cozy Pattern:
Foundation Chain:

With a 5.00mm (H) hook, ch 30. Ss into the first chain to join in the round, being careful not to twist the chain.
Rnd 1: Base Round

Ch 1 (this does not count as a stitch). Sc into the same stitch as ss, then sc in each stitch around. When you reach the first sc, ss into the top of it to join the round. (30 sc)
Rnd 2: DC and Chain Pattern

Ch 2 (counts as first dc). Ch 1, skip one stitch, dc into the next, ch 1. Repeat from to around the round. When you get back to the beginning, ss into the top of the first dc stitch (after the final ch 1). (15 dc & ch1 spaces)
Rnd 3: HDC and Chain Pattern

Ch 1. Hdc into the same stitch where the ch 1 was made, then hdc into the ch space from the previous round. Now, hdc into the next dc stitch, then hdc into the next ch space. Repeat this pattern around. Join with ss into the first hdc. (30 hdc)
Rnd 4: Third Loop HDC Round

Ch 1. Hdc into the third loop of each stitch around the round. The third loop is located just behind the top “V” of the hdc stitch. This creates a braided effect. Join with ss into the top of the first hdc. (30 hdc in the third loop)
Rnd 5: Sc in Third Loop Round

Ch 1. Sc into the third loop of the same stitch where the ch 1 was made. Then, sc into the third loop of each stitch around. When you reach the first sc, ss into the first sc to join. (30 sc)
Rnd 6: Bean Stitch Round

Ss into the next stitch, then ch 1. Bean stitch in the same stitch where the ss was made, and then ch 1.
The bean stitch is created as follows:
- Insert hook into the stitch, yarn over (yo), pull up a loop (you should now have 2 loops on your hook).
- Yo again, insert hook into the same stitch, pull up another loop (now 4 loops on hook).
- Yo again, insert hook into the same stitch, pull up another loop (now 6 loops on hook).
- Yo, insert hook into the same stitch, pull up a final loop (8 loops on hook). Now yo and pull through all 8 loops on the hook. This completes the bean stitch. After completing the bean stitch, ch 1. Skip one stitch, bean stitch in the next stitch, ch 1. Repeat around the round. Join with ss into the first bean stitch. (15 bean stitches)
Rnd 7: HDC in Bean Stitch Round

Ch 1. Hdc into each bean stitch and ch 1 space around the round. Join with ss into the first hdc. (31 stitches, including hdc and ch spaces)
Rnd 8: Sc in Third Loop with Ch1 Round

Ch 1. Sc into the third loop of the same stitch where the ch 1 was made. Then, sc into the third loop of each stitch around. Sc into the ch 1 space that began the round. Join with ss into the first sc to close the round. (32 sc)
Rnd 9: Bean Stitch in Previous Stitch Round

Ch 1. Bean stitch in the stitch just before the join (the last stitch of Round 8), and then ch 1. Skip one stitch, bean stitch in the next stitch, ch 1. Repeat around. Join with ss into the first bean stitch. (16 bean stitches)
Rnd 10: Final HDC Round

Ch 1. Hdc into each bean stitch and ch 1 space around the round. Join with ss into the first hdc to close the round. (32 stitches)
Finish:

Cut the working yarn, leaving a small tail for weaving in. You can use an invisible join or ss to join the final round. Weave in all the ends. If desired, sew on a button or any other accent piece for a finishing touch.
