Stitching Instructions for Making Colorful Mini Dino Pattern:

Body (Green Yarn)

  • R1: Start with a magic ring, then make 6 dc into the ring. (6 sts) Note: Pull the magic ring tightly to close the hole.
  • R2: inc in each st around. (12 sts) Note: “Inc” means making two dc in the same stitch.

  • R4: (2 dc, inc) repeat around. (24 sts)
  • R5: (3 dc, inc) repeat around. (30 sts)
  • R6–R10: dc in each st around. (30 sts per round) Note: “Dc” means double crochet.
  • R11: (3 dc, dec) repeat around. (24 sts) Note: “Dec” means double crochet invisible decrease, where you pull through two loops instead of one stitch to decrease the stitch count.
  • R12: (2 dc, dec) repeat around. (18 sts)
  • R13: (1 dc, dec) repeat around. (12 sts) Note: Continue decreasing as the rounds go on to shape the body.
  • R14: dec in each st around. (6 sts) Note: This is the final decrease round to close the body.
  • Fasten off the yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing. Use a yarn needle to sew the opening closed, pulling tightly to secure.

Head (Green Yarn)

  • R1: Start with a magic ring, then make 6 dc into the ring. (6 sts)
  • R2: inc in each st around. (12 sts)
  • R3: (1 dc, inc) repeat around. (18 sts)
  • R4–R8: dc in each st around. (18 sts per round) Note: These rounds will create a straight cylindrical head shape.
  • R9: (1 dc, dec) repeat around. (12 sts)
  • Stuff the head lightly with polyester fibrefill to give it shape.
  • R10: dec in each st around. (6 sts) Note: Continue to decrease to close the head.
  • Fasten off the yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing. Use a yarn needle to sew the opening closed, pulling tightly to secure.

Arms (Make 2, Green Yarn)

  • R1: Start with a magic ring, then make 6 dc into the ring. (6 sts)
  • R2–R3: dc in each st around. (6 sts per round) Note: The arms are small, so these rounds form a short cylindrical shape.
  • Fasten off the yarn, leaving a tail to sew the arm to the body. Repeat for the second arm.

Legs (Make 2, Green Yarn)

  • R1: Start with a magic ring, then make 6 dc into the ring. (6 sts)
  • R2: (1 dc, inc) repeat around. (9 sts)
  • R3–R4: dc in each st around. (9 sts per round)
  • Stuff lightly with fibrefill, then fasten off the yarn, leaving a long tail to sew the leg to the body. Repeat for the second leg.

Spikes (Make 3–4, Blue Yarn)

  • R1: Start with a ch 2. Note: Ch 2 is the foundation chain for the spike.
  • R2: Make 3 dc into the second ch from the hook. Turn. (3 sts) Note: This creates the base of the spike.
  • R3: Ch 1, then work 2 dc in the first st, 1 dc in the next st, 2 dc in the last st for a total of 5 sts. Turn. Note: This increases the size of the spike.
  • Fasten off the yarn, leaving a long tail to sew the spike onto the body.

Tail (Green Yarn)

  • R1: Start with a magic ring, then make 6 dc into the ring. (6 sts)
  • R2: (1 dc, inc) repeat around. (9 sts)
  • R3–R6: dc in each st around. (9 sts per round)
  • Stuff lightly with fibrefill, then fasten off the yarn, leaving a long tail to sew the tail to the body.

Assembly

  • Attach the head to the body using the yarn tail. Use a yarn needle to sew the head securely onto the top of the body.
  • Attach the arms to the sides of the body. Position them symmetrically and sew them on firmly.
  • Attach the legs to the lower part of the body, ensuring they are placed evenly on each side.
  • Attach the tail to the back of the body. Position it near the bottom of the body for balance and sew it on securely.
  • Attach the spikes to the top of the head and back. Sew each spike on one by one, evenly spaced, to give the dino a spiky appearance.
  • Mouth: Using black embroidery thread, stitch a small “V” shape for the mouth on the front of the head.
  • Cheeks: Using pink embroidery thread, stitch small circles or ovals on either side of the mouth to create the cheeks.

Final Touches

Once all the pieces are assembled and securely sewn together, your Colorful Mini Dino should be complete! Adjust the stuffing as necessary to give the dino a firm, but soft, shape. Enjoy your cute creation!
