Dumbo Octopus Amigurumi Pattern

Stitching Instructions for Making the Dumbo Octopus Amigurumi Pattern:

Head and Body

  • Using 3.75 mm (F) hook:
    • Round 1: Start with a magic ring, work 6 sc into the ring. Pull tight to close. (6 sts)
    • Round 2: Work 2 sc in each st around (inc in each st). (12 sts)
    • Round 3: (Sc in next st, inc) repeat around. (18 sts)
    • Round 4: (Sc in next 2 sts, inc) repeat around. (24 sts)
    • Round 5: (Sc in next 3 sts, inc) repeat around. (30 sts)
    • Rounds 6–10: Sc in each st around. (30 sts per round)

Ears (Make 2)

    • Row 2: Ch 1, turn. Sc in each st across. (4 sts)
      • This forms the rectangular base of the ear.
    • Row 3: Ch 1, turn. (Sc in next st, inc) repeat twice. (6 sts)
      • The ear begins to widen at the top.
    • Row 4: Ch 1, turn. Sc in each st across. (6 sts)
    • Row 5: Ch 1, turn. (Sc in next 2 sts, inc) repeat twice. (8 sts)
      • The ear widens slightly more.
    • Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Bottom Fins

  • Using 3.5 mm (E) hook:
    • Round 1: Magic ring, work 6 sc into the ring. Pull tight to close. (6 sts)
    • Round 2: Inc in each st around. (12 sts)
    • Round 3: (Sc in next st, inc) repeat around. (18 sts)
    • Round 4: (Sc in next 2 sts, inc) repeat around. (24 sts)
    • Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Assembly Instructions

  • Sew the ears: Using the long tails from the ears, attach one ear to each side of the head.
    • Position the ears slightly above the midpoint of the head, ensuring symmetry.
    • Secure firmly with the yarn needle, making small stitches to blend into the body.
  • Attach the bottom fin:
    • Center the fin on the underside of the body.
    • Use the long tail to sew it in place, ensuring it is evenly attached around the edges.
  • Add facial details:
    • Use black thread to embroider a small smile below the eyes, keeping it centered.
    • Secure the thread on the inside of the body and trim excess.

Final Touches

  • Adjust the fiberfill stuffing for a smooth and even shape.
  • Weave in all remaining loose ends using the yarn needle.
