- Suggested Yarn:
- Natural Jute 1.5mm twine (approximately 100 yards)
- Option: You could also try #4 cotton yarn, though it hasn’t been tested with this pattern.
- Yarn Measurements: Approximately 100 yards of jute twine
- Hook Size:
- 5mm (H) hook for the main pattern
- 4mm (G) hook for edging
- Pattern Measurements:
- Gauge: 3 1/2 inches in diameter after round 6
- Finished Size: 7 inches tall, fitting a water bottle up to 11 1/2 inches in circumference
- Needle: Yarn needle (for weaving in ends)
Abbreviations:
- sl st = slip stitch
- ch = chain
- sc = single crochet
- rsc = reverse single crochet (crab stitch)

Step by Step Guide for Easy Jute Water Bottle Holder Pattern
Main Body of the Holder:
- Round 1:
- Start with a magic circle.
- Crochet 6 sc into the magic circle.
- Join with a sl st to the first sc. (6 stitches)
- Round 2:
- Ch 1 (does not count as a stitch).
- Crochet 2 sc in each stitch around.
- Join with a sl st to the first sc. (12 stitches)
- Round 3:
- Ch 1.
- Crochet 2 sc in the first stitch, then 1 sc in the next stitch.

- Starting the Strap:

- Edging the Strap:
- Round 2: Change to a 4mm hook. Ch 1, work rsc (crab stitch) in each stitch around.
- Final Edging:
- Round 3: Change back to the 5mm hook. Sl st around the entire strap between rounds 1 and 2.
- Fasten off, leaving a 12” tail.
Attaching the Strap:
- Sew D-rings to the ends of the strap with the 12” tail.
- Position one D-ring at the top edge of the carrier (around rounds 35-36) and sew it in place.
- Position the other D-ring directly across from the first and sew it in place.
Final Touches:
- If you’re not using the jute twine for emergency purposes like cordage or tinder, you can weave in all loose ends.
- Your canteen carrier is now ready to carry a water bottle or be clipped to your backpack using the optional strap.
