Stitching Instructions for Making the Moonpetals Pattern:
Form the Foundation Ring:

- Start by making a slip knot and then ch 4.
- Join the last chain to the first chain with a sl st to form a small ring. This creates the starting point of your project.
Round 1- Starting the Circle:

- Ch 3 (this counts as the first double crochet, dc).
- Now, work dc into the ring 11 times (you should have 12 dc stitches in total, including the initial ch 3).
- Join the round by making a sl st into the top of the starting ch 3.
- At the end of this round, you will have 12 dc stitches in a circle.
Round 2- Adding Chain Spaces:

- Ch 3 (counts as the first dc).
- Dc in the next st, then ch 2.
- Work a dc in the next st, then ch 2, repeat from to all around the circle. You will have a total of 12 dc stitches and 6 ch-2 spaces, each between two dc stitches.
- Join the round with a sl st to the top of the starting ch 3.
- At the end of this round, you should have 12 dc stitches and 6 ch-2 spaces.
Round 3- Repeating Chain and Double Crochet Setup:

- Ch 3 (counts as the first dc), dc in the next st, then ch 2.
- Repeat [dc in the next st, ch 2] around.
- Join with a sl st to the top of the starting ch 3.
- This round will have the same structure as Round 2, adding additional ch-2 spaces in between each dc stitch, resulting in 6 ch-2 spaces again.
Round 4- Creating the “Moonpetals”:

- Ch 6 (this counts as a treble crochet, tr, and a chain 2 for spacing).
- Tr into the next ch-2 space.
- Ch 2, then repeat this sequence [tr in the next ch-2 space, ch 2] around the circle.
- Once all petals are made, join with a sl st to the top of the starting ch 6.
- You should now have 6 treble crochet petals, each separated by a ch-2 space.
Round 5- Forming the Petal Shape:

- Ch 4 (this counts as the first dc and a ch-1).
- [Dc, ch 1, dc] in the same ch-2 space. This will form a full petal in the next space.
- Repeat this step in each of the remaining ch-2 spaces. Each petal is formed by placing two dc stitches with a ch-1 space between them.
- Join the round with a sl st to the top of the starting ch 4.
- You will now have 6 petals, each formed by a [dc, ch 1, dc] in the ch-2 spaces from the previous round.
Round 6- Final Round:

- Ch 3 (counts as the first dc).
- Dc in the next st (the first dc of the petal).
- In the next ch-1 space, work the same sequence: [dc, ch 1, dc].
- Repeat this process for all the ch-1 spaces between petals, working 2 dc stitches in each ch-1 space (this makes the petals larger).
- When you get to the end, join with a sl st to the top of the starting ch 3.
- At this point, you should have 12 double crochet stitches between the petals, with each petal growing as the stitch count increases.
Finishing:
- Weave in the ends carefully using a yarn needle to hide any loose threads.
- Block your work if needed to help the piece retain its shape.
