This free seahorse crochet pattern allows you to create an adorable Amigurumi seahorse. It’s a beginner-friendly, quick, and easy project, ideal for using up leftover yarn.

Materials Needed & Measurements:
- Cotton Sport Weight version (9 cm / 4 inch):
- Blue Yarn and Colors (color 074) – 10 gram
- Yellow Yarn and Colors (color 014) – 5 gram
- Safety eyes 8 mm
- Synthetic Poly Filling
- Crochet hook size 2.5 mm
- Chenille Super Bulky version (23 cm/9 inch):
- Blue Chenille yarn
- Yellow Chenille yarn
- Safety eyes 18 mm
- Synthetic Poly Filling
- Crochet hook size 5.0 mm

- If using Blanket yarn, an 8.0 mm crochet hook is recommended.
- For Bulky Velvet yarn, a 3.5 mm crochet hook is recommended.

Instructions for Making the Seahorse Pattern:

Here are the instructions for making the seahorse pattern:
Body
Use blue yarn for the body.
- Rnd 1: start 8 sc in a magic ring (8).
- Rnd 2: inc 8 times (16).
- Rnd 3: (sc, inc in next st) repeat 8 times (24).
- Rnd 4: sc in all 24 st (24).
- Rnd 5: (sc in next 3 st, inc in next st) repeat 6 times (30).
- Marking: Mark the 6th & 14th st of Rnd 8 with yarn for eye placement.
- Rnd 6-10: sc in all 30 st (30).
- Rnd 11: (sc in next 3 st, dec) repeat 6 times (24).
- Rnd 12: (sc in next st, dec in next st) repeat 8 times (16).
- Eye Insertion: Insert the safety eyes between Rnds 8 and 9, in the marked stitches.
- Head Stuffing: Put synthetic poly filling in the head.
- Rnd 13: dec 8 times (8).
- Rnd 14: sc in all 8 st (8).
- Rnd 15: (sc, inc in next st) repeat 4 times (12).
- Rnd 16: (sc, inc in next st) repeat 6 times (18).
- Rnd 17-18: sc in all 18 st (18).

- Body Stuffing: Put synthetic poly filling in the body.
- Rnd 22: sc in next 2 st, dec 2 times, sc in next 2 st (6).
- Rnd 23-24: sc in all 6 st (6).
- Additional Stuffing: Put more synthetic poly filling in the body.
- Rnd 25-32: sc in all 6 st (6).
- Body Closure: Fasten off, leaving a yarn tail. Using your yarn needle, weave the yarn tail through the front loop of each remaining st and pull tight to close. Roll up the tail and sew onto the body.
Snout
Use blue yarn to make the snout. A full video tutorial is available for help.
- Rnd 1: start 6 sc in a magic ring (6).
- Rnd 2: (sc, inc in next st) repeat 3 times (9).
- Rnd 3-4: sc in all 9 st (9).
- Rnd 5: (sc in next st, dec in next st) repeat 3 times (6).
- Snout Attachment: Fasten off, leave a long piece of yarn to sew the snout onto the body. Sew the snout between the eyes on Rnds 9 and 10.
Mane (Make 4x)
Create four identical mane parts using yellow yarn. The video tutorial can provide assistance.
- Rnd 1: start 4 sc in a magic ring (4).
- Rnd 2: (sc, inc in next st) repeat 2 times (6).
- Mane Attachment: Fasten off, leave a long piece of yarn for sewing.
- Sew 1 mane part on the front of the body, on Rnds 2-4.
- Sew the other mane parts on the backside of the body: one on Rnds 1-3, one on Rnds 5-7, and one on Rnds 9-11.
Dorsal Fin
Lastly, construct the dorsal fin using yellow yarn.
- Rnd 1: start 6 sc in a magic ring (6).
- Rnd 2: (sc, inc in next st) repeat 3 times (9).
- Rnd 3: (sc in next 2 st, inc in next st) repeat 3 times (12).
- Dorsal Fin Attachment: Fasten off, leave a long piece of yarn for sewing. Flatten the Dorsal fin and sew Rnd 3 together. Sew the dorsal fin between Rnds 17-18.
