Stitching Instructions for Making the Parisian Dress Pattern:

Bodice

  • Foundation Chain:
    • Ch a multiple of stitches to match your bust size. Ensure the chain is loose to allow stretch and flexibility.
    • Join the chain into a ring with a sl st, being careful not to twist the chain.
  • Round 1 (Set-Up Row):
    • Sc in each ch around. Attatch by sl st into the first sc.
    • Double-check that the sts align with the desired bust circumference.
  • Rounds 2–6 (Body Texture):
    • Round 2: Ch 2 (treated as the first dc), place dc in every st around. Attach with a sl st to the top of the starting ch-2.
    • Round 3: Ch 1 (does not count as a st), sc in each st around. Merge with sl st to the first sc.
    • Rounds 4–6: Alternate dc and sc rows, ensuring smooth transitions and maintaining an even number of sts.
  • Shaping the Waist (Decreases):
    • Begin decreasing on sc rounds. Work sc2tog every 8–10 sts to shape the waist.
    • On dc rounds, maintain even sts without decreases.
    • Continue alternating sc and dc rounds until the bodice length matches your measurement, ensuring it tapers slightly at the waist.

Skirt

  • Transition from Bodice to Skirt: After finishing the bodice, begin the skirt by switching to dc for a smoother transition and flowing look.
  • Round 1 (Skirt Foundation):
    • Dc in each st around, evenly spacing inc by working 2 dc into every 10th st.
    • Bond with sl st to the top of the first dc.
  • Rounds 2–15 (Flare Shaping):
    • Continue working dc in each st around.
    • Increase evenly in each round by placing an inc every 8th st.
    • Repeat this pattern until the skirt reaches your desired flare and fullness.
  • Adding Length:
    • Work additional rounds of dc without increases to add length.
    • Alter the number of rows as desired for a custom fit.
  • Hem Finishing:
    • Work 3 rounds of sc for a neat and defined hemline.
    • End each round with a sl st to the first sc, then fasten off.

Sleeves (Optional)

  • Foundation: Attach yarn to the bottom of the armhole with a sl st.
  • Round 1 (Set-Up): Sc evenly around the armhole, ensuring a smooth distribution of sts. Work a sl st in the first sc to join.
  • Rounds 2–10 (Sleeve Shaping):
    • Round 2: Ch 2, dc in each st around. Blend with sl st to the starting ch-2.
    • Round 3: Ch 1, sc in each st around. Integrate with sl st to the first sc.
    • For tapered sleeves, begin working sc2tog every 6-8 sts on sc rows.
    • Continue to alternate dc and sc rows, shaping the sleeve to your desired size and fit.
  • Cuff Finishing:
    • Work 2 rounds of sc at the sleeve edge.
    • Fasten off and weave in ends.

Assembly & Finishing

  • Joining Seams: Check all joins and seams, ensuring they are secure and even.
  • Weaving Ends: Use a yarn needle to weave in all loose ends neatly.
  • Blocking: Block the dress gently to smooth out stitches and ensure proper shaping.
