Stitching Instructions for Making the Tinsel Toes Sock Pattern:

Cuff:

  • Using 3.5mm hook, work foundation dc until the circumference matches your selected size. (Alternatively, ch desired length and join with sl st to form a ring.)
  • Rnds 1-5: Work dc in each st around. (Creates a snug and stretchy cuff.)
  • Join with sl st, fasten off, and switch to a 3.0mm hook for the main sock body.

Leg:

  • R1: Ch 3 (counts as tr), work V-st (tr, ch 1, tr) in next st, skip 1 st, rep around. Join with sl st.
  • R2: Sl st to first ch-1 space of V-st, work V-st in each ch-1 space from previous round. Rep around.
  • Continue repeating R2 until the leg reaches the desired length (15-18 cm).

Heel Flap: (Worked flat over half the total stitches.)

  • R1 (RS): Work dc across heel section only, turn.
  • R2 (WS): Ch 1, dc across heel sts, turn.
  • Rep R2 until the heel flap measures approximately 5-6 cm, ending with a WS row.

Heel Turn: (Shaping the rounded heel.)

  • R1 (RS): Dc across to center, dc2tog over next 2 sts, dc 1, turn.
  • R2 (WS): Ch 1, dc across to 1 st before gap, dc2tog, dc 1, turn.
  • Rep R2 until all sts are used, shaping the rounded heel.

Gusset:

  • Pick up and dc evenly along the edges of the heel flap.
  • Work V-st pattern across instep stitches, then pick up and dc along the other side of the heel flap.
  • Place stitch markers at the junction between gusset and instep.
  • Decrease every other round at both gusset edges:
    • Work to 3 sts before marker, dc2tog, dc 1, pm, work instep in V-st pattern, pm, dc 1, dc2tog after marker.
  • Continue decreasing until original stitch count is restored.

Foot:

  • Continue working V-st pattern on the top and dc on the sole.
  • Work in pattern until the foot is 2 cm shorter than the intended length.

Toe (Shaping the rounded tip):

  • R1: Work dc around.
  • R2: Dc to 3 sts before marker, dc2tog, dc 1, pm, rep at all four decrease points.
  • Continue R2 until 8-10 sts remain.

Finishing:

  • Cut yarn, leaving a long tail.
  • Use a tapestry needle to weave the yarn through the remaining stitches, pulling tight to close the toe.
  • Secure and weave in all ends neatly.
