Assembly & Sleeves

  • Place the two front panels directly on top of the back panel, leaving space in the middle, aligning the outer edges.
  • Shoulders: Using your preferred seaming method, sew the shoulders along the top of each side, leaving an opening for the head and neck.
  • Seam Sides and Create Arm Openings: Sew up each side from bottom to top, leaving arm openings approximately 7.5” (8”, 8.5”, 9”, 9 ½”, 10”) wide. (Do not tie off yet; wait until sleeves are added for adjustments.)

Sleeves (Worked in Joined Rounds)

  • Rd 1: Attach yarn to the bottom of the arm opening. Ch 2 (doesn’t count as st), hdc evenly around, sl st to join at the end of the row. Mark the first st of the row. (Approximately 48, 49, 51, 54, 56, 59 stitches around).
  • Rd 2: Ch 2, turn, 1 hdc in each st around, sl st to join.
  • Rd 3: Ch 2, turn, hdc2tog, hdc in each st around, sl st to join.
  • Rd 4: Ch 2, turn, hdc in each st around, sl st to join.
  • Rd 5: Ch 2, turn, hdc in each st around, sl st to join.
  • Repeat Rows 3-5 until sleeve is approximately 16” long (or desired length).
  • Once sleeve reaches desired length, proceed to Decrease & Sleeve Cuffs.

Decrease & Sleeve Cuffs

  • Rd 1: Ch 2, turn, 1 hdc, hdc2tog; repeat from around. (Adjust if sleeve feels too tight or loose).
  • Rd 2: Ch 2, turn, hdc in each st around.
  • Rd 3: Ch 2, work FPhdc (front post half double crochet), followed by BPhdc (back post half double crochet), alternating around the row. Sl st to join, tie off, and weave in ends.

Bottom Cuff

  • Attach yarn to the bottom inner corner on the front of the cardigan. Ch 2, work FPhdc st, followed by BPhdc st. Alternate these stitches across for one row. Tie off and weave in ends.
  • Optionally, continue adding length to the bottom cuff by crocheting more rounds if desired.

Collar

  • Attach yarn to the bottom inner corner on the front of the cardigan.
  • Row 1: Ch 2, work hdc sts evenly across the neckline.
  • Row 2: Ch 2, turn, work FPhdc followed by BPhdc, alternating these stitches across the row along the collar.
  • Optional: Continue with Row 3 for a wider collar. Ch 2, turn, work FPhdc stitches in each FPhdc and BPhdc stitches in each BPhdc across the row.
