- Insert hook into the left leg of the previous st.
- Yo and pull up a loop (you will have 3 loops on the hook).
- Yo again and pull through all 3 loops on the hook to complete the hsc.
Row 1 (RS):
- Ch 73: Make a foundation chain of 73 ch.
- Sc in 2nd ch from hook: Skip the 1st ch, and work sc into the 2nd ch from the hook.
- Hsc in each ch across: Work hsc in each remaining ch across the row.
- Turn: Once you reach the end of the row, turn your work.
At the end of Row 1, you will have 72 hsc stitches.
Row 2 (WS):
- Ch 1: Ch 1 to begin the next row.
- Sc in 1st st: Work sc in the 1st st of the row (directly under the ch 1).
- Hsc in each st across: Work hsc in each st across the row.
- Turn: Once you finish the row, turn your work.
At the end of Row 2, you will have 72 hsc stitches.
Row 3 (RS):
- Ch 1: Ch 1 to begin the next row.
- Sc in 1st st: Work sc in the 1st st.
- Hsc in each st across: Work hsc in each st across the row.
- Turn: After completing the row, turn your work.
At the end of Row 3, you will have 72 hsc stitches.
Rep Rows 2 and 3:
- Rep Rows 2 and 3 for a total of 20 rows, making sure to end with Row 2 (WS).
You will have a total of 20 rows, and each row will have 72 hsc stitches.
Finishing:
- Fasten off: Once you have completed the final row, cut the yarn, leaving a long tail for seaming. Pull the yarn tail through the last loop on your hook and tighten it to secure.
- Seam the cowl:
- Use the long yarn tail to seam the two short sides of the cowl together.
- You can use a mattress stitch for a neat, invisible seam.
- To do this, insert your tapestry needle under the top two loops of each corresponding stitch on both sides of the cowl, and pull the yarn through to join them. Work across the edge, securing the two sides together.
Final Notes:
- Make sure to measure the cowl after completing the seaming to ensure it is 24 inches (61 cm) in diameter and 10 inches (25 cm) tall.
- You can adjust the length of the cowl by adding or subtracting rows as needed.
- The Double Wrapped Infinity Scarf can be made by ch 144 to start and work for 10 rows instead of 20.
