  • Begin by working sc (single crochet) into the back loop AND the 3rd loop (the third loop of the hdc from the previous round) for the next 63 stitches.
  • In the next stitch, work 2 sc (place 2 single crochets in the same stitch).
  • Do not join the round, continue working in a spiral, and move the stitch marker as needed to mark the last stitch.
  • Total stitches: 65 sc
  • Round 2:
The Big Little Pet Bed SIDES Round 1
  • Work Spike 1 (a sc worked in the base of the sc from the previous row), then sc 1 (1 sc in the next stitch).

  • Total stitches: 65 stitches (spike and regular sc)

The Big Little Pet Bed SIDES Round 3
  • Continue working in a spiral.
  • For each spike stitch, work a sc (single crochet) into the base of the stitch below.
  • For each sc, work a spike (sc in the base of the sc one row below).
  • Repeat this pattern for both rounds.
  • Total stitches: 65 stitches per round.
  • Round 5:
The Big Little Pet Bed SIDES Round 5
  • Work sl st (slip stitch) loosely in each stitch around. This will help the edge curl inward slightly, giving it the desired shape.
  • Finish with an invisible join to close the round seamlessly.
  • To perform an invisible join, pull the last stitch’s yarn through and tighten it to match the surrounding stitches, making the join nearly undetectable.
