- Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.
Carrot Top (Stems):
- Start with Stems:
- With Red Heart Super Saver in Frosty Green (Worsted Weight Yarn), ch 20.
- Row 1: Starting from the second ch from the hook, sc in each ch across. (19 sts)
- Row 2: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across. (19 sts)
- Repeat Row 2 for 5 more rows to create a small stem piece.
- Attaching Stems: Fold the stem piece in half and sew it securely to the top of the carrot, where the opening remains.
Carrot Accent Lines (Optional):
- Add Accent Lines:
- Using a small amount of DK weight yarn in white and/or dark gray, ch 3.
- Using a yarn needle, stitch the accent lines along the carrot’s body, adding a few stitches across for a textured effect, to resemble the natural lines seen on real carrots.
Finishing the Carrot:
- Fasten off all yarn ends and weave them in using a yarn needle.
- Repeat this process to create as many carrots as you’d like for the garland.
Assembling the Garland:
- Create the Garland:
- Using a length of jute twine (~70 inches), arrange your carrots evenly along the string.
- Sew the tops of each carrot to the twine, leaving a small space between each one for a decorative effect.
- Finishing Touches: Make sure all yarn ends are securely tucked in and any excess twine is trimmed.
