Stitching Instructions for Crochet Snowman Coasters Pattern:

Coaster Base (Make 4)

  • R1 (Magic Ring):
    • Start by making a magic ring with the main color (White).
    • Work 6 sc into the magic ring. This creates the foundation for the circular coaster.
    • Stitch Count: 6 st.
    • Pull the ring tight to close the center, but do not join the round. Continue to work in a spiral.
  • R2 (Increase Round):
    • Work 2 sc into each st from the previous round. This doubles the stitch count.
    • Stitch Count: 12 st.
  • R3 (Alternating Increase):
    • Work 1 sc in the first st, then 2 sc in the next st. Repeat from * around.
    • This creates a uniform increase, adding 6 more stitches to the circle.
    • Stitch Count: 18 st.
  • R4 (Further Expansion):
    • Work 1 sc in each of the next 2 st, then 2 sc in the following st. Repeat from * around.
    • This round spaces the increases further apart to ensure the circle lies flat.
    • Stitch Count: 24 st.
  • R5 (Balanced Increases):
    • Work 1 sc in each of the next 2 st, then 2 sc in the next st.
    • Work 1 sc in each of the next 3 st, then 2 sc in the following st. Repeat from * around, and finish with 1 sc in the last st.
    • Stitch Count: 30 st.
  • R6 (Gradual Growth):
    • Work 1 sc in each of the next 4 st, then 2 sc in the following st. Repeat from * around.
    • This round continues to increase the circle evenly.
    • Stitch Count: 36 st.
  • R7 (Slightly Adjusted Increase):
    • Work 1 sc in each of the first 2 st, then 2 sc in the next st.
    • Work 1 sc in each of the next 5 st, then 2 sc in the following st. Repeat from * around until 3 st remain.
    • Work 1 sc in each of the last 3 st to complete the round.
    • Stitch Count: 42 st.
  • R8 (Final White Round):
    • Work 1 sc in each of the next 6 st, then 2 sc in the next st. Repeat from * around.
    • At the end of the round, sl st to the next st, changing to the contrast color (Gray) in the final sl st.
    • Stitch Count: 48 st.
  • R9 (Gray Border – Joined Round):
    • With the contrast color (Gray), ch 1 and work 1 sc in the same st.
    • Work 1 sc in each of the next 6 st, then 2 sc in the next st. Repeat from * around.
    • At the end of the round, join to the first sc using an invisible join (or a sl st, if you prefer).
    • Stitch Count: 54 st.
    • Fasten off and weave in ends securely.

Carrot Nose (Make 4)

  • Create a Template:
    • Draw an oblong triangle on paper, about ¾″ wide at the base and 2″ long.
    • Trim and shape the edges, making them slightly rounded.
  • Cut Felt Pieces: Use the paper template to cut 4 carrot noses from the orange felt.
  • Attach the Noses:
    • Position the felt nose on each snowman coaster. Use matching embroidery floss and sew the noses in place with small running stitches.
    • Refer to the photo for placement, ensuring the noses are centered on the snowman’s face.

Eyes and Mouth Embroidery

  • Eyes:
    • Use gray yarn to create French Knots for the eyes.
    • Place the eyes between R3 and R4, spacing them about 5 stitches apart.
    • Pin the positions first to ensure symmetry before embroidering.
  • Mouth:
    • Create a curved line for the mouth using small embroidery stitches.
    • Position the mouth between R5 and R6 for a balanced look.
    • Again, use pins to test the placement before stitching.

Finishing

  • Weave in Loose Ends: Use a tapestry needle to weave in yarn tails and embroidery floss securely.
  • Secure the Embroidery: Check and secure French knots (eyes) and mouth stitches by tying knots and weaving in ends.
  • Shape the Coasters: Gently smooth and block your coasters for an even, flat finish.
  • Attach Felt Carrot Nose: Sew the orange felt noses onto the coaster using matching embroidery floss.
  • Final Inspection: Ensure all stitches are secure and the coaster looks polished.
  • Storage or Gifting: Store in a clean space or gift wrapped for a festive touch.
