Stitching Instructions for Making the Easy Crochet Bandana Pattern:
Foundation Row (Row 1):

- Ch 4.
- Work 2 dc into the 4th ch from the hook (the first 3 skipped ch count as 1 dc).
- You will now have a total of 3 stitches in the row: 1 dc (from the skipped chains) + 2 dc.
- Turn your work.
Row 2:

- Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), then work 2 dc into the first st (same st as the ch-3).
- Skip the next st.
- Work 3 dc into the top of the turning ch-3 from the previous row.
- You will now have 6 stitches: 1 granny cluster in the middle + 1 granny cluster on the edge.
- Turn your work.
Row 3:

- Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), then work 2 dc into the first st.
- Work 3 dc into the space between the two granny clusters from the previous row.
- Work 3 dc into the top of the turning ch-3.
- You now have 9 stitches: 2 granny clusters in the middle + 1 granny cluster on each edge.
- Turn your work.
Row 4:

- Ch 3, then work 2 dc into the first st.
- Work 3 dc into each space between the granny clusters across the row.
- Work 3 dc into the top of the turning ch-3.
- You will now have 12 stitches.
- Turn your work.
Row 5 and Beyond:

- Repeat the pattern as established:
- Ch 3, work 2 dc into the first st, 3 dc in each space between clusters across, and 3 dc into the top of the turning ch-3.
- Each row increases by 3 stitches.
Final Row:

- Continue crocheting rows until your triangle measures 8.5″ tall by 16.5″ wide. This should take approximately 20 rows, but adjust if needed based on your gauge and yarn choice.
- Do not cut your yarn; proceed to the ties.
Adding the Ties

- First Tie:
- Ch 50 (or desired length).
- Skip the first ch closest to the hook.
- Sl st into each ch back toward the main triangle. Insert the hook into the back bump of each chain to create a neat and sturdy edge.
- Once you reach the edge of the triangle, continue to the next step.
- Join to Triangle: Sl st across the top edge of the triangle, inserting the hook under both loops of each st. This will create a smooth edge along the bandana.
- Second Tie:
- Ch 50 (or desired length).
- Skip the first ch closest to the hook.
- Sl st into each ch back toward the triangle, again working into the back bump for a neat finish.
Finishing

- Cut Yarn: Leave a 6–8″ tail and cut the yarn.
- Weave Ends: Use a tapestry needle to weave in all loose ends securely, especially at the ties and edges.
- Block the Bandana: Wet block or steam block your bandana to shape it to the final measurements of 8.5″ tall by 16.5″ wide. Blocking helps ensure the granny clusters lie flat and the bandana maintains its triangular shape.
Tips for Success
- Gauge Check: Use a ruler or tape measure to check your gauge after a few rows. Adjust your hook size if the triangle is too small or too large.
- Tension: Keep an even tension throughout the project, especially while making the ties, to avoid puckering.
- Custom Sizing: For a larger bandana, add more rows to the triangle. For longer ties, simply increase the number of chains when starting the ties.
