- Yarn: Red Heart Super Saver (Worsted Weight Yarn/Category 4) – approximately 250 yards.
- Hook: 5.0mm (H/8) crochet hook
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
- Scissors

Stitching Instructions for Making the Granny Square Afghan Border Pattern:
Make sure your afghan is finished, all granny squares are joined, and edges are reasonably even.
Round 1: Foundation Round

Attach Red Heart Super Saver to any corner space (ch-2 space).
- Ch 1, (sc, ch 2, sc) in the same corner sp,
- [sc in each st and ch-1 space across to next corner,
- (sc, ch 2, sc) in corner ch-2 sp] repeat around.
- Join with sl st to first sc.
Round 2: Granny Stitch Round

- Sl st into the corner ch-2 sp, ch 3 (counts as dc), dc, ch 2, 2 dc in corner.
- [sk 2 sts, 3 dc in next st/sp] repeat around, working (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in each corner.
- Join with sl st to top of beginning ch-3.
Round 3: Treble Shell Round (Wavy effect)

- Sl st to corner ch-2 space. Ch 3 (counts as dc), dc, ch 2, 2 dc in corner.
- [sk next 3 dc, in next sp or gap: (sc, dc, tr, dc, sc) to create a shell] repeat around.
- In corners, work (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc).
- Join with sl st.
Round 4: Picot Edge (Optional)

- Attach yarn in corner. Ch 1, sc in corner sp, ch 3, sl st in 1st ch (picot made), sc in same sp.
- [sc in each st around, making a picot (ch 3, sl st in first ch) every 4th sc]
- In corners, repeat (sc, picot, sc)
- Join and fasten off.
Finishing Instructions:

- Weave in all ends with a tapestry needle.
- If needed, block your afghan to help the border lay flat.
