Stitching Strategies for Traveler’s Water Bottle Bag Pattern:

- Round 1: Ch 1, 6 sc in the magic circle. Slip stitch to close. (6 sts)
- Round 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in each stitch around. Slip stitch to finish. (12 sts)

Gauge: After Round 5, your work should measure approx. 2.25 inches in diameter.
Creating the Body (Rounds 6-11)
- Rounds 6-11: Ch 1, place 1 hdc in each stitch around. Slip stitch to finish. (30 sts per round)
Adding V-Stitches (Rounds 12-18)
- Round 12: Ch 4 (counts as dc + ch 2), dc in the same stitch (first V-stitch). Skip 2 sts, V-stitch in next. Repeat until 2 sts remain. Skip 2 sts, slip stitch into the ch 4 space. (10 V-stitches, 20 dc)
- Rounds 13-18: Ch 4, dc in the same ch 1 space. In each ch 2 space, place a V-stitch. At the end of the round, slip stitch into the ch 4 space. (10 V-stitches, 20 dc)
Closing the Bottom (Rounds 19-20)
- Round 19: Ch 1, 3 hdc in the first ch 2 space and each ch 2 space around. Slip stitch to complete. (30 sts)
- Round 20: Ch 1, sc in each stitch around. Slip stitch to seal. (30 sts)
Do not cut yarn, continue to make the strap.
Creating the Seamless Strap
- Mark Stitches: Place stitch markers on the first stitch of Round 20 (where you closed) and 15 stitches over from the first marker. These markers will help guide the placement of your strap.
- Chain 100: Adjust the chain length to your preferred strap size.
- Attach Strap: Carefully rotate the body of the bag and connect the strap to the second stitch marker by slip stitching into the stitch from the front.
- Round 1 (Strap): Ch 1, sc in the first marked stitch and each of the next 14 sts. Then, work along the chain: 1 hdc in each chain. Slip stitch to close. (115 sts)
- Round 2 (Strap): Ch 1, sc in each of the next 114 sts. Slip stitch to seal. (115 sts)
Finishing the Strap (Second Half)
- Attach Yarn to Other Side: Link the yarn in the stitch with the first marker (previously ignored).
- Round 1 (Second Half of Strap): Ch 1, sc in the first stitch and each of the next 14 sts. Work along the bottom of the chain: 1 hdc in each chain. Slip stitch to conclude. (115 sts)
- Round 2 (Second Half of Strap): Ch 1, sc in each of the next 114 sts. Slip stitch to finish. (115 sts)
Finishing Up
- Cut Yarn: Tie off and weave in all ends.
- Final Size: The bag should fit a standard water bottle comfortably, with a finished height of 6 inches and a 2.5-inch diameter.
