Ahh Spa Slippers for Women

Materials Needed & Measurements:

  • Suggested Yarn: Worsted weight yarn (held double)
  • Yarn Measurements: 200-295 yards
  • Hook Size: Size J (6mm) crochet hook
  • Needle: Darning needle
  • Stitch Marker: 1 stitch marker (or a paperclip in a pinch)

Pattern Measurements:

  • Sizes:
    • Small: 6/7.5
    • Medium: 8/9
    • Large: 9.5/10
    • X-Large: 10.5/11

Abbreviations:

  • sc: Single crochet
  • sc2tog: Single crochet two together
  • sctbl: Single crochet through the back loop only
  • sctfl: Single crochet through the front loop only
  • sc2togtbl: Single crochet two together through the back loop only
  • ch1: Chain 1
  • slst: Slip stitch
  • rep: Repeat

Special Stitches:

  • Magic Ring: A way to start crocheting in the round, creating a tight center.

Round by Round Stitching Instructions for Making Ahh Spa Slippers for Women Pattern:

Start with Magic Ring:

  • Round 1:
    • Ch1, 2 sc in magic ring and 2 sc in each sc (for the given size), join with slst.
    • Small/Medium: 14 sc; Large/XL: 16 sc.
  • Round 2:
    • Small/Medium: Ch1, 2 sc in join and 2 sc in each sc. (28 sc for Small/Medium, 32 sc for Large/XL).
    • Large: Ch1, 2 sc in join and 2 sc in each of next 6 scs, 1 sc, 2 sc in each of next 7 sc, 1 sc (30 sc).

Next, Work in Rounds:

  • Round 3:
    • Work the following sequence: 10 (Small/Medium) or 12 (Large/XL) sctfl, 2 sctbl, 2 sctfl, 10 (Small/Medium) or 12 (Large/XL) sctbl, 2 sctfl, 2 sctbl.
  • Repeat Round 3:
    • Repeat Round 3 for 12 (Small/Medium) or 14 (Large/XL) more rounds. The bottom of the foot should have visible ridges (13-15 depending on the size).
    • After completing this step, check to make sure the slipper fits approximately 1” from the crook of your foot/ankle.

Work on Heel:

  • For Heel: Work on 18-20 stitches (depending on size), no longer working in the round. Do NOT ch1 when turning.
  • Row 1:
    • 18 (Small/Medium) or 19-20 (Large/XL) sc, turn.
  • Row 2:
    • Repeat Row 1 6 times (Small/Medium) or 7 times (Large/XL).
  • Row 3:
    • 6 (Small/Medium) or 7 (Large/XL) sc, sc2tog, 2 (Small/Medium) or 1 (Large/XL) sc, sc2tog, 6 (Small/Medium) or 7 (Large/XL) sc.
  • Row 4:
    • Small/Medium: 5 sc, sc2tog 3x, 5 sc.
    • Large/XL: 6 sc, sc2tog, 1 sc, sc2tog, 6 sc.

Finish Heel:

  • Join Heel:
    • After the last stitch of Row 4, pull up the loop slightly, insert hook from opposite side of last stitch, grab the loop, pull through and ch1. The gap will form on the heel where the two sides meet. This will be stitched closed later.

Make the Cuff:

  • Round 1:
    • Work 10 (Small/Medium) or 11 (Large/XL) sc down the side of the slipper, 10 (Small/Medium) or 11 (Large/XL) sc across the top/front of slipper, 10 (Small/Medium) or 11 (Large/XL) sc across the other side. 

Use a stitch marker at the beginning of the round. Work in the round without joining with slst.

  • Total stitches: 30 (Small/Medium), 34 (Large/XL).
  • Round 2:
    • 9 (Small/Medium) or 10 (Large/XL) sctbl, sc2togtbl, 8 (Small/Medium) or 9 (Large/XL) sctbl, sc2togtbl, 9 (Small/Medium) or 10 (Large/XL) sctbl.
  • Round 3:
    • 8 (Small/Medium) or 9 (Large/XL) sctbl, sc2togtbl, 8 (Small/Medium) or 9 (Large/XL) sctbl, sc2togtbl, 8 (Small/Medium) or 9 (Large/XL) sctbl. Join with a slst into top of first sc.
    • Fasten off and cut yarn.

Final Steps:

  • Turn the Slippers Inside Out: Stitch up the gap from the heel using a darning needle and yarn.
  • Secure the Magic Ring Tail: Ensure the tail from the magic ring is securely fastened so it doesn’t come undone.
