Baby Converse Free Pattern

Materials Needed and Measurement:

• Two colors of yarn: Light blue and white, light DK double knitting yarn (4 ply)
• Crochet hook size 3mm / US D 3.25mm
• Tapestry needle

• Gauge:
  • Sole = 10 cm
  • 6 hdc x 4 rows = 1 inch
• FInisheed Pattern Size: Small (3 to 6 months baby)

Abbreviations:

• ch: Chain
• sc: Single crochet
• hdc: Half double crochet
• dc: Double crochet
• sts: Stitches
• st: Stitch
• slst: Slip stitch
• sc tog: Single crochet together
• hdc tog: Half double crochet together
• dc tog: Double crochet together

Stitching Instructions for Making the Baby Converse Pattern:

Sole:

• Rnd 1:
  • ch 12, 1 hdc in 3rd ch, 1 hdc in next 8 ch, 5 hdc in last ch,
  • Work in the opposite side, 1 hdc in next 9 sts, 5 hdc in last st, slst to join in top. (28 sts)
• Rnd 2:
  • ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next 8 sts, 2 hdc in each of the last 5 sts,
  • Work in opposite side, 1 hdc in next 9 sts, 2 hdc in each of the last 5 sts, slst to join in top. (38 sts)
• Rnd 3:
  • ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in next 8 sts, (2 hdc, 1 hdc) repeat 5 times in next 10 sts,
  • Work in opposite side, 1 hdc in next 9 sts, (2 hdc, 1 hdc) repeat 5 times in last 10 sts, slst to join in top. (48 sts)
• Rnd 4:
  • ch 1, 1 hdc in same st into back loop, 1 hdc in each st around into back loop,
  • slst to join in top. (48 sts)
• Rnd 5: ch 1, 1 hdc in same st, 1 hdc in each st around, slst to join in top. (48 sts)
• Change color to blue: Rnd 6: ch 1, 1 sc in same st, 1 sc in each st around, slst to join in top. (48 sts)
• Change color to white: Rnd 7: repeat (Rnd 6). (48 sts)

Make the toe:

• Note: Use a stitch marker to mark the front 22 sts.
• Rnd 8: ch 3, (dc tog) repeat 10 times in next 20 sts, 1 dc in last st, turn. (12 sts)
• Rnd 9: ch 3, (dc tog) repeat 5 times in next 10 sts, 1 dc in last st, turn. (7 sts)
• Rnd 10:
  • ch 1, (6 sc tog) in next sts, yarn over and pull through all loops,
  • Pull tight, weave in end.

Make the tongue:

• Join yarn to the right side facing in front of the toe at the base of (Rnd 8).
• Rnd 1:
• ch 1, 1 sc in same st, pick up 11 sc more evenly across the top edge of the toe.
• (Total 12 sc) Turn.
• Rnd 2: ch 1, sc in same st, 1 sc in each st across, turn. (12 sts)
• Rnd 3: ch 1, sc in same st, 1 sc in next 11 sts, 1 sc into turning ch, turn. (13 sts)
• Rnd 4-5: Repeat (Rnd 3). (15 sts)
• Rnd 6-10: Repeat (Rnd 2). (15 sts). Fasten off.

Upper Boot:

• Join yarn before 2 sts into the stitch marker place.
• Rnd 1:
• ch 1, 1 sc in same st, 1 sc in next st (marker place), 1 sc in each of the next 26 sts,
• 1 sc into stitch marker place, 1 sc in next st, ch 1, turn. (30 sts)
• Rnd 2:
• Skip 1st st, 1 sc in next st, 1 sc in next 10 sts, (sc tog) in next, 1 sc in next 2 sts,
• (sc tog) in next, 1 sc in next remaining sts, ch 1, turn. (27 sts)
• Rnd 3: Skip 1st st, 1 sc in each st across, ch 1, turn. (26 sts)
• Rnd 4:
• Skip 1st st, 1 sc in next 10 sts, (sc tog) in next, 1 sc in next st, (sc tog) in next,
• 1 sc in next remaining sts, ch 1, turn. (23 sts)
• Rnd 5: Repeat (Rnd 3). (22 sts)
• Rnd 6:
• Skip 1st st, 1 sc in next 9 sts, (sc tog) in next, 1 sc in next remaining sts,
• ch 1, turn. (20 sts)
• Rnd 7: Repeat (Rnd 3). (19 sts)
• Rnd 8: Repeat (Rnd 3). (18 sts)
• Rnd 9: Repeat (Rnd 3). (17 sts)
• Rnd 10: Repeat (Rnd 3). (16 sts). Fasten off.

Make second boot:

Follow the same pattern for the second boot.

Make Lace:

Make a chain of 110, cut the yarn. Fasten off.

Finishing:

Insert the lace into the edges of both boots to the same point.
