Round-by-Round Breakdown of the Baby with Dummy Pattern:

Head:

  • Round 1: Start with a magic ring (a loop formed with your yarn to start crocheting in the round). Crochet 6 sc (single crochet) into the magic ring. Tighten the ring to close. (6 sc)
  • Round 2: Work an increase (inc) in each stitch around, meaning you will crochet 2 sc into each stitch. This will double the number of stitches. (12 sc)
  • Round 3: 1 sc in the next stitch, 1 inc in the next stitch – repeat this sequence around the round. This will increase the stitch count to 18. (18 sc)
  • Round 4: 1 sc in the next 2 stitches, 1 inc in the next stitch – repeat this sequence around the round. (24 sc)
  • Round 5: 1 sc in the next 3 stitches, 1 inc in the next stitch – repeat this sequence around the round. (30 sc)
  • Round 6-10: Continue to crochet 1 sc in each stitch around without any increases or decreases. This forms the straight sides of the head. (30 sc)
  • Round 11: 1 sc in the next 3 stitches, 1 dec (decrease) – repeat around. To dec, insert your hook into the next two stitches and pull up loops, yarn over and pull through all three loops on your hook. This will gradually reduce the stitch count. (24 sc)
  • Round 12: 1 sc in the next 2 stitches, 1 dec – repeat this around. (18 sc)
  • Round 13: 1 sc in the next stitch, 1 dec – repeat this sequence. (12 sc)
  • Round 14: Crochet dec around to close the head. Work a decrease in each stitch until you have 6 stitches left. (6 sc) Fasten off, leaving a long tail to sew up the opening. Stuff the head with fiberfill to shape it.

Body:

  • Round 1: Start with a magic ring and crochet 6 sc into the magic ring. (6 sc)
  • Round 2: Inc in each stitch around, meaning you crochet 2 sc in each stitch. (12 sc)
  • Round 3: 1 sc in the next stitch, 1 inc in the next stitch – repeat this sequence. (18 sc)
  • Round 4: 1 sc in the next 2 stitches, 1 inc in the next stitch – repeat around. (24 sc)
  • Round 5-7: Continue to crochet 1 sc in each stitch around, with no increases. These rounds shape the body without expanding it. (24 sc)
  • Round 8: 1 sc in the next 2 stitches, 1 dec – repeat this sequence around. This will decrease the size gradually. (18 sc)
  • Round 9: 1 sc in the next stitch, 1 dec – repeat this sequence around. (12 sc)
  • Round 10: Crochet dec around, decreasing each stitch until you have only 6 stitches left. (6 sc) Fasten off, leaving a long tail to sew up the opening. Stuff the body lightly with fiberfill.

Arms (Make 2):

  • Round 1: Start with a magic ring and crochet 6 sc into the magic ring. (6 sc)
  • Round 2: Inc in each stitch around. (12 sc)
  • Round 3: Crochet 1 sc in each stitch around. (12 sc)
  • Round 4: 1 sc in the next stitch, 1 dec – repeat this sequence around. (8 sc)
  • Round 5: Crochet 1 sc in each stitch around. (8 sc)
  • Round 6: Dec around. (4 sc) Fasten off, leaving a long tail to sew up. Stuff lightly with fiberfill. The arms should be small and rounded.

Legs (Make 2):

The legs should also be small and rounded.

Dummy (Pacifier):

Stuff lightly to give shape.
  • Handle: Chain 10, then sl st (slip stitch) into the last stitch of the dummy. This forms the handle of the pacifier. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Assembly:

  • Attaching Parts:
    • Begin by sewing the arms onto the body at the sides, placing them about halfway down the body.
    • Attach the legs to the bottom of the body, leaving a little space in between them to ensure the baby can “sit.”
    • Attach the head securely to the top of the body.
    • Sew the pacifier (dummy) to the front of the head, positioning it as though the baby is holding it in its mouth.
  • Final Touches: Once everything is sewn into place, take your yarn needle and weave in any loose ends.

Gently stuff any parts of the body that may need additional shaping. You can adjust the tightness of the stuffing to make the baby more or less squishy.
