Stitching Instructions for Making the Rose Flower Border Pattern:
Rose Flower (Make as many as needed)

- Using Color A (Rose):
- Start with a magic ring, or ch 4 and sl st to first ch to form a ring.
- Round 1: Ch 1, work 10 sc into the ring, sl st to first sc to close round. (10 sc)
- Round 2: Ch 2, skip next st, sl st in next st; rep from to around. (5 ch-2 spaces)
- Round 3 (Petals): In each ch-2 space: (sc, hdc, 2 dc, hdc, sc) – this creates 5 small petals. Sl st to first sc to close.
- Round 4 (Behind Petals for Bigger Second Layer): Working behind petals: Ch 3, sl st into base between petals 5 times. (5 ch-3 spaces)
- Round 5 (Second Layer Petals): In each ch-3 space: (sc, hdc, 3 dc, hdc, sc) – 5 larger petals form second layer. Fasten off and weave in ends.
Leaves (Optional)

- Using Color B (Red):
- Ch 7, starting in 2nd ch from hook: sc, hdc, dc, dc, hdc, sc, ch 1, turn to work on other side of foundation chain: sc, hdc, dc, dc, hdc, sc. Sl st to first sc to close.
- Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Joining to Make Border

- You can join roses directly together or sew them onto a crocheted strip base.
- Option 1: With Strip Base:
- Use Color B or any background color.
- Ch as long as desired border (e.g., ch 150 for approx. 36″) Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and across. Turn. Row 2-3: Ch 1, sc across. Fasten off.
- Sew or surface slip stitch each rose onto the strip evenly spaced (approx. every 2 inches).
- Add leaves in between or beneath flowers.
- Option 2:Direct Join:
- As you make the roses, leave a long tail. Use it to sew them edge-to-edge in a line. Slightly overlap the outer petals for a lush garland effect.
Finishing Instructions

- Weave in all loose ends.
- Lightly block flowers and leaves if needed.
- For wearable or washable projects, steam block with care to avoid flattening petals.
- Attach border to blankets, garments, or home decor using slip stitches or whip stitch along the edge.
Tips
- For a multicolor effect, alternate flower colors.
- You can stiffen the roses with fabric stiffener if using the border for decor purposes.
- Works beautifully as a hemline trim, curtain edging, or baby blanket border.
