The Boxy Blooms Blanket is a bright and cozy crochet project. It adds warmth and charm to any room.
Work with two self-striping yarns. Change yarns every two rows. This creates a fun bloom effect with lots of color and flow.
A simple color-carry method lets you keep the spare yarn at the edge. You do not need to cut and join the yarn often. The border covers the carried yarn for a neat finish.
The pattern uses easy basic stitches, plus front-post double crochet (FPDC) and puff stitches. These stitches add soft, rich texture. The blanket is fun to make and works up fast.
Its soft drape makes it a good pick for new and skilled crocheters alike.

Front-Post Double Crochet — FPDC
Yarn over. Insert the hook around the stitch post from front to back and to the front. Then work a double crochet as usual.
Extended Stitch — Two Rows Below
Work a double crochet around the noted chain-3 space. Insert the hook into the middle stitch two rows below. Pull the loop up a little so the stitch is as tall as the row.
Carrying the Unused Color

Finishing
Gently shape and straighten the blanket. Block it if you like. The border should hide the yarn carried along both sides. This gives the edge a neat look and keeps the bright, textured top smooth.
The Boxy Blooms Blanket is about 48″ × 54″ when done. The size may vary a little based on the yarn, your stitch tension, and blocking.
